Overview The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at Nemours Children's Health, Jacksonville is seeking applications for a talented

Pediatric Endocrinologist Physician Scientist

to join our faculty. Our program is the premier center for the care of children and adolescents with endocrine disorders and diabetes in northeast Florida and southeast Georgia and is part of Nemours Children's Health, a tertiary health care system for children and adolescents in different locales in Florida and Delaware, supported by the trust of Alfred I. Dupont.

Ours is an academic division with 9 endocrine faculty, 5 APRNs, 5 Endocrine nurses, 6 certified diabetes educators as well as a team of medical and administrative assistants and administrators that assist us in the care of our patients. We are the only providers of comprehensive endocrine care in the region, with access to all types of endocrine pathology. Our pediatric diabetes program — approximately 1,200 patients to date — has a strong interest in advanced diabetes technology. We also have a 3-year Pediatric Endocrine fellowship program (1 fellow per year) in collaboration with the University of Florida.

Our program has a strong emphasis on clinical research with a 25+ year track record of successful studies on the complex interactions of nutrients and hormones, focusing on disorders of growth, disorders of puberty and type 1 diabetes. We have sustained funding from NIH, private foundations and industry. The program is integrated with Wolfson Children’s Hospital, a partner hospital and a state-of-the-art 240-bed facility adjacent to our 11-story outpatient clinic on the banks of the St. John’s River in Jacksonville. The hospital has a well-staffed Clinical Research Center where complex physiological and interventional studies can be carried out in children. Nemours Jacksonville is affiliated with the Mayo Clinic/Mayo Foundation, with a large campus in town; our faculty hold full academic appointments conferred through the Mayo system. Jacksonville is the northernmost city on Florida’s east coast, located on the ocean and along the river, with a temperate climate and ample water access.

Responsibilities and opportunities We are seeking a driven academician and innovator who can combine clinical practice with translationally relevant clinical research. The package of support will be commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications.

Qualifications and expectations Interested candidates should have a track record in clinical endocrinology and a demonstrated interest in research that integrates clinical practice with translational studies.
