Overview
Assistant Professor of Forest Ecophysiology. The Department of Ecosystem Science and Management at The Pennsylvania State University seeks applications for an Assistant Professor of Forest Ecophysiology. This is a tenure-line position with a 60% research and 40% teaching appointment. The position comes with a competitive start-up package and salary based on 36-weeks of service annually, which can be supplemented with additional salary up to a total of 48 weeks from external funding.
Responsibilities
Develop an externally funded, high impact interdisciplinary research program on forest adaptation under global change. Use creative, collaborative, and inclusive approaches to incorporate an understanding of ecophysiology and tree physiology to examine plant–soil–water interactions across scales of biodiversity to develop effective management strategies for forests under global change.
Teaching responsibilities will include one graduate and one undergraduate course in tree ecophysiology and one additional course that aligns with the candidate\'s expertise and department curricular needs.
Qualifications
Degree in forestry or related field (e.g., ecology, evolution, biology, natural resources management) with PhD degree requirements completed by the appointment date.
Strong evidence for conducting and publishing innovative research, competitiveness for securing external research funding, excellence in communication with diverse interest groups, and potential for success in mentoring and advising students.
Ability to work across scales of biodiversity, from genes to ecosystems, with broad geographical interest in forest ecosystems from local to global scales.
Ability to engage professionally with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students across the University.
