Perform diversified accounting and tax assignments under the supervision of a supervisor, manager, principal, or partner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Demonstrate competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional standards and firm policies.

Coordinate phases of engagements including planning, setting budgets for time and expenses, and monitoring actual performance against budget.

Review complex bank reconciliations.

Prepare and/or review quarterly payroll tax returns and property tax reports.

Process more complex financial reporting engagements (multi-location, multi-firm).

Review assigned accounting engagements.

Assist with and/or complete year-end tax planning.

Prepare and organize work papers; perform procedures under accepted accounting principles in accordance with SSARS standards for compilations or reviews.

Supervise and instruct staff on work to be performed and work paper preparation.

Prepare compiled and reviewed financial statements with footnote disclosures.

Prepare federal and state income tax returns (e.g., 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1040, 1041).

Research IRS notices and prepare routine correspondence for client approval and signature by a partner or delegated agent.

Meet time budgets and client deadlines.

Prepare client invoices.

Provide training to clients’ personnel on various accounting software packages.

Proactively research and resolve tax issues.

Perform controller-by-the-hour work at clients’ offices, handling various accounting tasks as requested.

Participate in business development and marketing activities; support firm’s practice expansion efforts.

Update project status to partners weekly.

Perform other reports, projects, and duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting or related field (3-5 years) public accounting experience.

CPA license in good standing or CPA candidate.

3-5 years of public accounting experience with increasing complexity and scope.

Knowledge of GAAP and SPF financial statement preparation, including disclosures.

Experience with Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, CCH ProSystem Tax, and Engagement software is a plus.

Ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks timely.

Strong analytical skills for complex accounting issues.

Efficiently prepare business and individual tax returns with minimal supervision.

Effective oral and written communication skills with clients, authorities, and colleagues.

Discretion in handling confidential client and firm information.

Maintain a professional demeanor at client sites.

WORKING CONDITIONS

In-office (Uptown Dallas) or at local client sites 2-3 days/week, with flexible schedule.

Occasional overtime, especially during Spring and Fall busy seasons, may exceed 50 hours/week.

Travel to meetings, seminars, and client offices using personal vehicle as needed.
