Senior Tax Specialist We are seeking a Senior Tax Specialist to join our well-established and highly profitable CPA firm. In this role, you will oversee the preparation and review of tax returns for a diverse clientele ranging from SEC to closely held companies across various industries. DOE per year Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performs technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations, regardless of complexity. Assumes full responsibility for the completion of larger tax returns, delegating tasks to tax preparers as necessary. Demonstrates expert knowledge and proficiency in tax law and practices, essential for advising clients effectively. Ensures all client service tasks are performed within the allocated budget and timeframe. Manages and delegates tax research projects to ensure both accuracy and efficiency. Handles governmental tax examinations and may represent clients before taxing authorities. Maintains an understanding of the qualifications of all tax staff members to ensure appropriate task assignments. Provides supervision and on-the-job training to tax staff, enhancing their professional development. Responsible for the development, coaching, and training of junior staff, including Semi-seniors and Staff accountants. Minimum Position Qualifications: Minimum of two to seven years' experience in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in tax complexity and scope. At least one year of experience supervising and directing the work of tax preparers. Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in taxation is highly preferred. Extensive experience in managing complex tax situations and advising on tax matters. Previous experience representing clients before taxing authorities. Skills: Advanced technical skills in tax preparation and review. Strong leadership and team-management abilities.
