Vaco Phoenix is working with a stable and growing company seeking to add a payroll specialist with tax experience to their team. This role involves preparing, processing, and maintaining basic payroll functions. It is ideal for someone looking to establish and grow their career with a stable organization. This is a direct hire position offering a salary up to $75k per year and a hybrid work schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Validate and reconcile bi-weekly payroll data, including pre-checks such as approved timesheets, time-off requests, and reimbursements. Ensure adherence to payroll controls according to internal checklists. Collaborate and communicate regularly with HR. Coordinate the processing of bonus, severance, and commission payments. Accurately calculate and process bi-weekly payroll. Process out-of-cycle payrolls as needed. Work closely with HR to maintain up-to-date employee records. Ensure payroll compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees. Manage onboarding tasks to ensure new employee profiles are properly set up for payroll. Oversee termination pay, including processing out-of-cycle payments. Collaborate with HR to manage payroll deductions, garnishments, and levies. Be available on payroll processing days; PTO is restricted on payroll Wednesdays (every other week). Respond to mandatory government surveys and data requests. Collect information from the accounting team for government submissions. Monitor and respond to tax notices from authorities. Maintain and update the company's online tax document library. Download and organize tax return documents. Desired Experience:
Strong desire to learn and grow. 3+ years of payroll processing experience. General accounting background. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
