Position Summary: The Admissions Registrar coordinates the admissions process, including handling inquiry calls, processing referrals for potential admission, and communicating with referral sources and customers. Additional responsibilities may include insurance verification, patient registration, vitals, patient observations, scheduling evaluations, admissions processing, bed board monitoring, belongings searches, and other non-clinical duties as assigned by the admissions leadership team. Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, mental health, or a related field, OR Master’s degree in social work, psychology, mental health, or related field, or RN degree. CNA or RN licensure/certification/registration preferred. Experience:

A minimum of one to three years of experience in a human services, social services, psychiatric, mental health or Call Center setting, performing administrative duties including crisis intervention, telephonic triage, and managing inquiry calls with a focus on customer service. Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities: Facilitates the Assessment and Referral process by obtaining AOC approvals, doctor’s assignments, and precertifications from insurance companies. Knowledge of EMTALA and the legal implications of the admissions process; communicate to determine if a patient can give express and informed consent. Completes all aspects of screening and referral processes accurately using all department programs and applications. Knowledge of the Mental Health Law and its impact on patients. Records inquiry call information completely and accurately, including clinical and medical information, patient demographics, legal status, payor information and call disposition; follows all inquiry calls to disposition and communicates dispositions to referral sources. Handles all inquiry calls with respect and dignity in a timely manner; manages and processes incoming ER referrals within designated timeframes. Demonstrates ability to process an inquiry call, including reviewing clinical data to determine program eligibility and completing an Inquiry Call Sheet. Knowledge of facility programs and ability to promote and refer to appropriate services. Assessing and documenting patient legal status and ability to give express and informed consent. Obtains insurance verification and/or private pay rates; reviews cases with the department manager or director; obtains pre-certifications from insurance companies for admissions. Schedules assessments and admissions; maintains daily census log and MS4 Electronic Bedboard to reflect real-time admissions and discharges. Performs other duties as assigned. Benefits
