Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY, is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of 30 locally sponsored community colleges throughout New York State. Onondaga County is our sponsor. We offer two-year degree programs that serve as transfer opportunities to baccalaureate degree programs at four-year campuses or for direct entry to the workforce. HIT 120: Medical terminology
and
HPR 101: Intro to Health Professions . Courses to be offered on OCC main campus during day and evening hours. Major responsibilities include: Prepare and present lectures. Meet with students as needed to answer questions. Respond to student queries (e.g., email or voice mail) in a timely manner. Write, administer, and grade all student assignments and exams. Compute grades and submit them on time. Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Associate's degree in health care field with two (2) years' work experience in a health-related field from an accredited college, university, or foreign equivalency. Active health-related license, credential, or certification (must provide a copy for consideration). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's or Master's degree in Healthcare field from an accredited college, university, or foreign equivalency. Prior experience teaching college-level courses. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Other languages will also be considered. Additional Information: The adjunct pay rate for the 2025/26 academic year is $1,483 per credit hour. Classes will be assigned as needed based on enrollment. Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System.
