Reports to the Clinical Director
Job Overview:
The BCBA will provide applied behavior analytic services (including functional analysis and assessment, skills-based assessments, development and delivery of treatment plans, and parent training) to clients ranging in ages from 2-12 years old. The BCBA will also provide supervision and oversight of any Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) on their caseload including supervision of implementation of programming and documentation requirements. The BCBA will also be involved in the development and delivery of agency training programs.
The BCBA will provide consultation, training, and Functional Behavior Assessments for public schools under contract with Journey Center. BCBA will work collaboratively with Charter Cyber Schools as a member of the IEP team and follow all rules written in the contract between Journey Center and the Charter Cyber School regarding submission of paperwork.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education or related human services field;
Successful completion of internship and/or formal training in applied behavior analysis and instructional strategies training related to working with clients who have pervasive developmental disorders and related disorders, their parents, and other agencies working with the client;
Previous experience working in a home-based setting;
Ability to demonstrate competence in behavior management skills, instructional skills, oral and written communication, organizational skills, and interpersonal relations;
Ability to work with a variety of clients in regard to age, functionality, and with minimal direction;
Certified as a BCBA for a minimum of 1 year;
Licensed as a Behavior Specialist in the state of Pennsylvania;
Flexible availability;
Current on all required trainings/certifications (CPR and First Aid, mandated reporter, etc.);
Transportation that is reliable and insured in the state of Pennsylvania (with record of insurance on file);
Have a valid Pennsylvania's Driver's license.
Responsibilities:
Adhere to all Journey Center policies;
Adhere to all applicable payor requirements;
Attend all educational/skills trainings required by Charter Cyber School Contract with Journey Center, staff meetings, supervision that is either mandatory or requested by Clinical Director;
Complete all paperwork documentation according to Journey Center and Pennsylvania Mental Health regulations (e.g., incident reports, C&YS, etc.) on a timely basis;
Complete performance self-evaluation yearly and of supervised staff;
Assist in the development of agency training on various topics including but not limited to: Applied Behavior Analysis, regulatory requirements, evidenced-based treatment strategies, supervision, and parent training;
Conduct skills assessments, functional assessments, and analyses when appropriate, and to develop appropriate behavior strategies to teach appropriate behavior and reduce maladaptive behaviors. Develop behavior plans/treatment plans for all consumers with a focus on teaching, skill development, and other antecedent strategies for reducing problematic behavior(s);
Ongoing training and supervision of RBT/IA/BHT staff in implementation of ABA principles and methodology and behavior reduction strategies;
Create ongoing data collection system to establish baseline and programmatic efficacy for all consumers, and to analyze data on a frequent and ongoing basis to guide programming;
Provide as appropriate resources to families for access to natural supports;
Meet as needed with supervised staff to discuss ongoing consumer issues and to provide support when necessary;
Utilize Catalyst to enter clinical session notes at the end of each session;
Provide consultation services and to maintain ongoing communication with treatment team members (other supports, parents, community, and community agencies);
Keep current with the literature, new research findings, and resources. In addition, continuing education courses to maintain BCBA certification are necessary (32 credits every 2 years) and IBHS regulations (16 credits every year);
Maintain all data, paperwork, and communication between personal care staff and families;
Coordinate services with Charter School Special Education Director, Special Education teachers, and any other IEP team members;
Attend Charter School IEP meetings when invited;
Submit all requested paperwork to Charter School such as Schedule 4's, IEP input, and progress reports within the timelines established by the Charter Cyber school;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong communication skills to work with a diverse team;
Knowledge of and proficiency with DTT programming and implementation;
Knowledge and proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook systems;
Ability to utilize a copier, phone system, laminator, and other office materials as necessary for the position;
Ability to respond quickly to phone calls, text messages, and emails;
Ability to problem solve and make decisions including during emergencies;
Ability to develop rapport and work productively with both clients and parents to gain treatment buy-in;
Strong organizational and time management skills;
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
