Akron Children’s Hospital
is actively recruiting a BC/BE pediatric surgeon to join our group. We are a growing division that practices broad-based pediatric surgery with emphasis on family centered care. Last year, our group performed close to 3000 cases and our clinical volume continues to grow. Akron Children’s Hospital has over 100 Level III/IV NICU beds, 24 PICU beds, a dedicated CICU, a burn unit and satellite locations throughout northeast Ohio. We have active outreach in the region, and the NICU is state of the art. We have fellowship-trained subspecialists in all pediatric surgical disciplines. We are an independent free standing children’s hospital with academic ties to local medical schools.
We are an ACS-verified Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and have an infant and pediatric ECMO program designated as an ELSO center of excellence. Akron Children’s Hospital offers an ACGME-accredited residency program in pediatrics, and 12 fellowship programs. Akron Children's Hospital is ranked among the best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. With more than a million patient visits a year, we’ve been leading the way to healthier futures for children through quality patient care, education, advocacy, community service and medical discovery since 1890. Clinical research opportunities are supported through the Rebecca Considine Research Center here at Akron Children's. Akron, OH was founded by Simon Perkins in 1825 and developed into a canal town on the Ohio & Erie Canal way. Today, Akron is a world-renowned center of polymer research and development. The Polymer Science Institute of the University of Akron has made us an international leader in education in the polymer field. More than 35,000 people in the Akron area are employed in approximately 400 polymer-related companies. Akron is also home to many small manufacturing firms and has a large variety of retail establishments and shopping complexes. Fifty percent of America's population lives within a 500-mile radius of Akron, and within a 150-mile radius there are approximately 10 million people. Akron has easy access to a network of superhighways and is a major trucking hub. Housing is affordable, schools are excellent and you can choose between urban or many small community suburban locations. The Cuyahoga valley National Park is just one local resource for year round robust actor activity. Our practice is very team oriented. We openly discuss patients and their management plans. We enjoy great camaraderie among our group. All of us have a clinical niche but there are no subspecialty constraints within our group.
