Part-time Animal Control Officer

This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,508 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits.
Job Description The part-time Animal Control Officer will ensure all animals are in good health, cages are disinfected and clean to ensure a disease-free living environment, ensure animals are properly fed, watered, and issued any required medication. In addition, the Animal Control officers assigned to field operations may respond to citizen complaints of stray, vicious, sick, injured or diseased animals, and work with local authorities.
Essential Duties
Assist with maintaining various records on animals, up to and including processing intakes and adoptions, review and upkeep of medical charts and records, keep records on animals held for court cases. Maintain logs on all diseases, medications, and treatments as required by state and federal regulations. May assist with investigating cruelty and abandonment of domestic animals and livestock. This evidence will be used to prosecute violators. Assist field officers in unloading, checking in and relocating animals in the shelter. Assist the public with touring the shelter for lost or adoptable animals. Assist with investigating reported bite cases. Assist in conducting rabies quarantine checks and verify quarantine requirements are met. Assist in the decapitation, preparation, and transportation of specimens to the state lab for testing. Assist in euthanizing animals or other functions assigned to the euthanasia laboratory.

Other Job Requirements/Information This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing. This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Hourly rate The rate is $15.75.
Minimum Qualifications High School diploma AND One year of animal control experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
