Overview
Full-time position providing site development and coordination of all aspects of student clinical placements with clinical facility partners for the students in the cardiovascular diagnostic medical sonography program. The position also provides didactic and laboratory instruction to cardiovascular sonography students as designated by the program director. Responsibilities
Cardiovascular Student Clinical Placement Coordination: Provide support to administration and faculty in clinical placement planning and assignment management for the Cardiovascular Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Serve as the liaison between the clinical facilities, clinical adjunct instructors and/or staff, DMS faculty and students for all clinical placement requirements and contractual obligations for the designated program. Request clinical placements as designated. Coordinate all aspects of clinical placement with the clinical facilities’ designee and Program Directors/Associate Dean and/or Course Lead. Participate in the development and maintenance of databases needed for accreditation and departmental recordkeeping purposes. Participate in the development and maintenance of databases for student tracking of CPR and health insurance requirements to ensure compliance. Collaborate with Employee Health to ensure the maintenance of health requirements for students to ensure compliance. Procure required clinical contracts with desired potential clinical facility partners and secure contract renewals as needed. Participate in the assessment and evaluation of clinical courses, clinical placements, and preceptors for the designated program. Assist in the acquisition, orientation, and evaluation of adjunct clinical faculty as appropriate. Assist in the orientation of students to the health and preclinical requirements for participation in clinical experiences for the designated program. Didactic and Laboratory Instruction
Provide didactic and lab instruction to Cardiovascular Diagnostic Medical Sonography students. Deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement; plan and prepare for classes and student success. Adequately prepare course materials and lessons; note preparation time will vary based on instructor experience in teaching the course. Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved, standardized syllabus. Provide interesting and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting. Suitably challenge, engage, serve, and communicate with students to encourage participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect. Deliver ensured course and program learning outcomes as defined by the syllabus. Facilitates meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively supports all facets of the learning environment. Maintain a paper or electronic record of each student’s progress and make it available upon request by students and/or appropriate college personnel. Promote student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule and by engaging students in the learning process. Complete grade books, final grade sheets, learning assessments and final exam assessments on a timely basis. Design, administer, and grade examinations to assess achievement of course objectives as identified in the syllabus and as approved by the Academic Dean. Complete end-of-term responsibilities as directed. Support the Mission and strategic plan of the college. Participate in the development and evaluation of the college’s educational program. Participate in the shared governance system, including committee assignments and other service activities. Role models professional growth and development. Maintains active licensure(s) and certifications as required. Attends college seminars/workshops and in-services. Maintains professional and legal standards in relation to client care, appearance and conduct. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science or Arts degree Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program. Current registry with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) in adult echocardiography and vascular sonography. Years of Experience: Experience of at least three (3) years in the clinical practice of adult echocardiography and vascular sonography. Prior clinical coordination experience preferred. Prior teaching experience preferred. Required Skills and Knowledge:
Demonstrates ability to develop and implement curricular strategies and to incorporate effective management techniques. Current knowledge of regulatory guidelines. Effective communication skills. Employment details
