About the role:
The HR Specialist is responsible for providing a variety of human resources services to the logistics company, including onboarding, training, performance management, compensation and benefits, and employee relations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of human resources principles and practices, as well as experience in the logistics industry. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: HR Administration & Employee Support: Maintain employee records, both digitally and in paper format, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies. Address employee concerns, fostering open communication and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Maintain benefits data and coordinate with benefits vendors. Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations. Guide employees through HR procedures and answer questions about company policies. Redirect HR-related calls or distribute correspondence to the appropriate team member. Ensure employees are informed of policy updates and changes. Monitor employee attendance across the company. Send emails regarding attendance issues and follow up as necessary. Assist employees with questions related to the Attendance App in Helix. Leave Management: Enter vacation, sick, and birthday leaves into the Helix system as required by company policy. Provide weekly leave reports to relevant departments. Answer all employee inquiries regarding vacation policies and the Leave App. HR Compliance & Employee Verifications: Receive and respond to HR correspondence, including child support, insurance, employment verifications, court orders, and other official requests. Process child support paperwork, set up deductions in Helix, and collaborate with accounting to ensure weekly processing. Prepare Employee Verification Letters and complete verification requests as needed. Recruitment & Employee Lifecycle Management: Support the recruitment and hiring process by conducting background checks, assisting in shortlisting, and issuing employment contracts. Assist direct managers in performance management procedures. Conduct employee orientations, onboarding, and maintain updated records for new hires. Coordinate and schedule training sessions, seminars, and HR events as needed. General HR Support: Produce and submit reports on general HR activity. Assist with ad-hoc HR projects, such as collecting employee feedback. Answer daily HR-related inquiries from employees and provide guidance as needed. Perform other HR-related tasks as assigned by the HR Manager. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Experience:
2+ years of experience in an HR generalist or specialist role. Skills : Strong understanding of HR principles and labor laws. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills. Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office (especially Excel). Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Preferred Knowledge: Familiarity with the transportation industry sector and its workforce challenges. Experience with recruitment for technical or operational roles.
