Payroll Specialist
in
St. Louis, MO . The payroll specialist will be responsible for all aspects of managing employee salary data, ensuring timesheets are accurate and payments are made on time. The ideal candidate will manage both incoming as well outgoing W-2 forms to be compliant with tax season deadlines and will oversee and manage all aspects of payroll for a variety of job classifications across multiple states using ADP. Specific Responsibilities: Administers payroll for employees. Resolves payroll errors, receives and processes weekly time records for part-time and non-exempt full-time employees and verifies hours worked, hours off, and overtime worked. Processes semi-monthly salary exempt payroll and weekly non-exempt payroll. Distributes paychecks/earnings statements to employees, department managers, and/or supervisors, mailing external employee paychecks/earnings statements. System Administrator for payroll and timekeeping systems. Ensures compliance with tax regulations and company policies. Supports HR with gathering, coding and tracking time records of employees. Performs all required statistical and clerical duties necessary to prepare hourly and salary payrolls in union and non-union environments. Checks time sheets for accuracy prior to entry. Creates and runs various payroll reports including headcount reports. Prepare monthly journal entries and reports. Supports administration of sick leave and vacation programs, including tracking usage, monitoring accruals, and generating reports for managers Recommends workflow and scheduling improvements to enhance productivity and quality Maintains updated knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing payroll; interprets impact of changes and implements to ensure compliance. Payment of court ordered child support. Completion of garnishment forms and payments as necessary. Assists in the reconciliation of all payroll-related general ledger accounts. Reconciliation and distribution of employees’ W-2 forms. Calculates payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings and deductions Providing information and answering employee questions about payroll-related matters Maintains records of regular deductions from employees’ payments such as deductions on health care and other deductions like Pay As You Earn (PAYE) Coordinates efforts between the payroll department and other departments such as the human resources and budget to ensure accurate employee data Ensures prompt update of all software for accurate payroll processing and administration Ensures the proper filing of tax and voluntary deduction reports Ensures the updating of the organization’s payroll procedures Updates salary sheets and schedules Education & Experience: HS Diploma with 7-10+ years relevant experience OR associate’s degree and 3–5+ years of payroll experience, or bachelor’s degree with 1–3+ years of relevant experience. Payroll experience using ADP Proficient in Microsoft Office; skilled in Excel Skilled in HRIS reporting Exposure to SAP SuccessFactors or other EMS preferred Knowledge of multi-state pay and leave laws (Missouri required, New York a plus) Familiarity with benefits and leave administration a plus Understanding of file feeds and system integration processes a plus Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent oral and written English communications skills. Ability to work collaboratively with all relevant internal and external stakeholders in an international business environment. Strong leadership orientation. Strategic orientation, with ability to balance change management. Ability to prioritize and balance competing organizational priorities. Ability to demonstrate and foster safe working behavior in the team. Physical Requirements: Must be able to drive a car and fly on a plane, including overnight travel. Must be able to see, speak and read in English. Must tolerate working environment with inside ambient and outdoor temperatures. Requires (Near/Far/Depth/Color) vision to utilize equipment and material. Must walk to various areas of the plant.
