Overview
Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company, is seeking a Sr Electronics Engineer, based out of Billerica, MA. Rapiscan Systems designs, manufactures and markets security and inspection systems worldwide. Our products inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles and other objects for weapons, explosives and other contraband. Our devices are used in airports, border crossings, railway stations, seaports and terminals, government and military installations, and nuclear facilities. As a Sr. Electronics Engineer, you will lead major aspects of the electronics system used in our scanning systems. In collaboration with a team of professionals, you will develop solutions that address each customer’s security needs. This can range from interfaces for portable x-ray scanners mounted on experimental robots and drones, mobile systems for events, to cargo scanning systems at airports, seaports, train tracks and borders that help identify and stop threats. Responsibilities
Work in a cutting-edge, cross-functional engineering team environment. As one of the technical leaders of the EE team, you will be responsible for the following design skills: Continually seek and research new technologies for integration into products. Design and develop embedded hardware and firmware for X-Ray imaging systems. Design analog circuits using op-amps, transistors, ADCs, DACs, etc. Design digital circuits using microcontrollers, FPGAs, CPLDs, RAM and DDR memory, etc. Develop test fixtures and PCBs designed for test. Develop HDL code using tools such as Active-HDL by ALDEC and apply standards for VHDL/Verilog. Prepare product documentation such as interconnects, schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts, assembly drawings, BOMs, etc. Interpret industry codes and standards and apply them to design; lead efforts to ensure regulatory compliance for products. Capture best practices and develop templates for use by the department.
Mentor junior team members and assist in their development. Collaborate with Sales, Design and Project teams during all phases of the equipment lifecycle to balance product specifications, process requirements, complexity, and cost. Perform sustaining engineering to maintain and enhance existing products. Support Field Service teams and customers with program changes, phone support, problem-solving and troubleshooting. Report quality problems or defects to management to enable corrective action and prevent recurrence. Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet business needs. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering; M.S. is a plus. 10+ years of design experience. Experience with FPGA development and simulation tools; Xilinx development tool experience; VHDL experience required. Experience with programming/scripting languages such as C/C++; LabVIEW is a plus. Experience with analog and digital circuits; microprocessor hardware and software development environments and tools. Experience with 2D CAD electrical schematic packages, such as Altium Designer and/or OrCAD; EPLAN is a plus. Experience with industry standards such as IEC, IPC, NFPA, etc. Ability to coordinate responsibilities across different time zones, including late night/early morning meetings by phone or web. Domestic travel required, up to 15%. Must travel internationally and be able to obtain travel documents. Benefits and Notices
