Product Development Engineer

The Product Development Engineer is responsible for supporting assigned customers to assure best-in-class design and quality for products and provides seamless communication between the company and customers. This position will design and develop Class III implantable devices. Req: Bachelor's degree or equiv in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field & must have 3 years related exp. Must also have 12 months of exp with each of the following: (1) ensuring medical device designs meet performance specifications, and regulatory and mfg. requirements, specifically ISO 14971, ISO 13485, and ISO 10993; (2) preparing, tracking, and communicating project plans that specify project phases, tasks, task interdependencies, durations, resource assignments, and costs; (3) performing Design Verification Testing on Medical Devices; (4) participating in clinical trials to test the safety and effectiveness of new medical device/tool on people; (5) using software to develop detailed 3-D CAD models and drawings; (6) design, specify, procure, assemble and evaluate prototype devices for Class II or III Medical Devices, Surgical guide tools, Surgical procedure kit or instruments; and (7) utilizing the following tools and technologies: Geometric Dimension and tolerancing (GD&T) ASME Y14.5; Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Mfg. (DFM); Computer Aided Engineering software including ANSYS and MATLAB; Finite Element Method techniques; 3D printing (Additive Mfg.) for quick prototyping; Plastic Injection Molding; Design of Experiment (DOE); Six Sigma tools; Design and develop Jigs and Fixtures; and Machine tools.
