Radford City - Main Campus The Department of Psychology in the College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences at Radford University invites applications at the associate or full professor level to serve as the founding director for a Master’s program in Clinical Psychology. Starting in Fall 2026, this tenure-eligible position is nine-month with additional funding for summer months and administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of a new Master’s program in Clinical Psychology that meets APA accreditation requirements and Virginia Board of Psychology requirements for preparing license-eligible graduates. The Psychology Department offers a large Bachelor’s program, Master’s programs with concentrations in Experimental and Industrial-Organizational Psychology, and Master’s and Educational Specialist in School Psychology degrees. The Psychology faculty are committed to providing a broad, collegial, collaborative, and supportive environment for building a successful career in a highly student-centered atmosphere.
Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of a new Master’s program in Clinical Psychology to meet APA accreditation and Virginia Board of Psychology requirements for license-eligible graduates.
The Psychology Department offers a large Bachelor’s program, Master’s programs with concentrations in Experimental and Industrial-Organizational Psychology, and Master’s and Educational Specialist in School Psychology degrees. The department maintains a student-centered, collaborative environment.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited graduate program, an APA-accredited doctoral internship, and be a licensed or license-eligible Clinical Psychologist in Virginia at the time of appointment. Area of specialty is open. Track-record of peer‑reviewed scholarly publications consistent with tenure and appointment at the associate or full professor level. Evidence of successful student mentorship and classroom teaching aligned with departmental and university goals. Ability to coordinate complex tasks while maintaining collegial professional relationships. Interest in and preparation for applying for extramural grant support is preferred.
