QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below. An acceptable qualification for this position includes:
Completion of secondary education (high school or GED), with three (3) to five (5) years of experience in the food service industry, preferably in a long-term care setting;
Proven progressive responsibility including supervision and direction of staff;
Experience and knowledge of cooking, menu planning, and ordering, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
Willingness to care for older adults and dedication to an organization providing such care;
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English;
Successfully completed and maintained ServSafe certification; Certified Food Service Manager (CFSM) preferred;
Valid State of Ohio driver’s license and maintained insurability according to employer policy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
Under general direction of the Director, responsible for overall food quality at Maple Crest; supervises cooks and dietary aides, including hiring, scheduling, work review, training, and performance evaluation; ensures safety and quality standards are met; manages employee discipline and grievances; coordinates elder involvement in kitchen and dining activities.
Plans, directs, and manages food service operations; participates in budgeting; monitors food costs; supervises ordering and receiving of supplies; maintains sanitation and inventory control; develops menus in collaboration with dietary staff; ensures compliance with safety and sanitation regulations.
Ensures proper functioning of dietary equipment; maintains accurate records; participates in Quality Assurance; provides staff training; stays updated on regulations including U.S. Department of Health and Ohio Sanitary Code.
Implements programs to ensure nutritional integrity, elder satisfaction, and quality of life; leads elder Food Committee; manages billing processes.
Attends care conferences and follow-up meetings related to elder preferences; participates in seminars and community events.
Demonstrates regular attendance.
Maintains necessary licensure and certifications; participates in ongoing education, especially in gerontology and nutrition.
Adheres to safety standards and OSHA regulations; promotes policy compliance and staff training.
Maintains confidentiality and complies with corporate policies and ethics.
Engages professionally with residents, families, and staff.
Performs other duties as assigned to support facility operations.
