Job Summary
This position is a full-time position tasked with 1) planning, preparing for and leading a blended worship service that connects with all ages, promotes authentic worship, and proclaims the uncompromised message of the Gospel; 2) giving pastoral leadership among the children, youth, and families of West End Baptist Church through discipleship. Skilled in reading music and singing or playing music/instrument Quality singing voice and engaging stage presence Is familiar with the use of technology in worship such as lighting, worship software, sound systems, video projection, etc. A self-motivated leader with a personal spiritual life congruent with biblical mandates for leaders (1Timothy 3:1-7) An enthusiastic, outgoing, fun approach that is contagious, will attract families and make children and youth eager to invite their friends Social media skills that will connect you to the youth Team builder with good relational skills and a positive attitude Willingness to accept, follow direction, and work under guidance of the Pastor Music Responsibilities
Lead the congregation in uplifting worship experience and direct the flow of the service. Develop a weekly order of service in coordination with the pastor and communicate it in advance to the members of the worship team and tech team. Direct a weekly rehearsal with the worship team that both prepares for a quality performance on Sunday and develops new music to be introduced to the congregation in future services but does not interfere with team member discipleship training. The worship leader ultimately chooses the music, but it is important that input is sought from the worship team on song choices. Ensure that the stage set-ups, lighting, sound system, video systems, and worship presentation software are working properly and ready for the service. Build the worship technology presentation for each week’s service. This includes such things as announcement graphics, countdown videos, and song slides. Recruit and/or develop new musicians, singers, and tech team members sufficient to carry out the weekly needs of the service and prepare for future needs. Work with financial team to develop a yearly budget for the service and follow the financial guidelines for purchases. Engage in the body of the church as an active member by joining a Bible study group, seeking to make connections with members beyond the worship stage, and supporting the vision, mission, and pastor. Be available as needed for special events, including weddings and funerals. If absent, in a timely manner, find a replacement to fill in with all other responsibilities accounted for. Family Ministry Responsibilities
Oversee children’s and student ministries by providing direction, support, and training for volunteers. This position will also teach the students on Wednesdays. Plan and facilitate Wednesday afterschool gatherings to include activities to excite the children, a Bible study to excite their soul and food to nourish the body. Equip parents to be disciple-makers of their youth. Develop a discipleship plan for children and youth up to college. Attend all worship services and staff meetings. Coordinate regular office hours as set by the Pastor and be available by phone and text throughout the week. As part of the ministry staff, make home and hospital visits as needed. Participate in a yearly job performance review. Stay current with family ministry practices by reading, attending family leadership conferences, etc. Function as a member of the pastoral staff and perform other duties assigned by the Pastor. Be familiar with and promote all WEBC missions and ministries. Demonstrate and model Christ-like servanthood. Experience/Education
