Ballinger | Leafblad is honored to partner with Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest (RMHC-UM) in the search for its next Vice President of Philanthropy. This newly created role will lead a talented development and communications team in advancing a mission that provided lodging, meals, and community to over 5,600 families last year across Minnesota. The Vice President will drive fundraising strategy, expand individual and major giving, and strengthen brand visibility—ensuring RMHC-UM continues to deliver comfort, care, and community to families facing a child’s medical crisis at no cost. RMHC never charges for services and operates on philanthropic support from wide range of sources. This role is both strategic and hands-on, balancing big-picture vision with the relationshipbuilding and day-to-day leadership that sustain a high-performing development function. SUMMARY This is a newly-created role that will oversee a development and communications marketing team of five that includes individual and corporate giving, special events, major gifts, grants, and communications. One of the VP’s top priorities is to drive and expand individual giving activities, including prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and securing major gifts to reach Annual Fund goals. Additionally, the VP will support the strategy and execution of any future capital campaign efforts, as well as lead the Board of Directors’ Development Committee. Oversee a development and communications marketing team of five that includes individual and corporate giving, special events, major gifts, grants, and communications. Drive and expand individual giving activities, including prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and securing major gifts to reach Annual Fund goals. Support the strategy and execution of any future capital campaign efforts, and lead the Board of Directors’ Development Committee. Qualifications
REQUIRED Undergraduate degree. 10+ years of professional experience in nonprofit development and fundraising, including: 5+ years leading a development department and managing a high-performing team. Demonstrated results securing major (4 and 5+ figure) gifts from individual donors and family trusts. Broad knowledge of development strategies, programs, and fundraising tactics. Proven experience analyzing and applying relevant data to execute successful campaigns, solicit major gifts and cultivate new donors. Experience with donor management systems/CRMs (Raiser’s Edge is a plus). PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED) CFRE or other professional certification. Experience in healthcare, hospitality, family support services, or related nonprofit fields. Knowledge of and passion for RMHC’s mission of supporting families facing childhood illness and injury Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this position is $150,000 (fixed) plus 5% discretionary bonus based on individual and organizational performance. RMHC-UM offers excellent benefits, including health, dental, life, vision and disability insurance; FSA and HSA accounts, matching 401k retirement contributions up to 4%, 11 paid holidays, and unlimited paid time off for executive, VP, and senior staff.
