Position Overview We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven founding Vice President of Philanthropy to join our executive leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. This role represents a new and elevated position that aligns with the organization's new direction and growth strategy for the next decade. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, serving as both a thought leader in philanthropic strategy and a working executive who integrates major gift work with donor relations. Road to Hire's philanthropic strategy is founded on substantial lead gifts from founding partners and the organization's founder, complemented by strategic public and private investments. Due to strong demand and demonstrated support from our school district, R2H has entered a strategic growth phase and is actively seeking to expand and diversify its funding portfolio while preserving its core founding financial foundation. The Founding VP of Philanthropy will be responsible for building upon this established foundation to accelerate revenue growth and significantly expand philanthropic reach across local and national markets. Target Compensation:

This is a hybrid position that requires residence in the Charlotte region with required in-office presence Tuesday through Thursday. Occasional weekends and evenings may be required to support philanthropic efforts and outreach. Key Responsibilities: Major Gifts Officer:
Drive annual revenue goals through personal management of a major gifts portfolio, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of national and local individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners. Donor Relations and Stakeholder Management:
Oversee comprehensive stakeholder stewardship programs ensuring exceptional stakeholder and donor experience and retention. Grant Management and Development:
Research and develop grant outreach and strategy plans working with development associate to pursue key grant opportunities. Communications and Marketing:
Partner with the R2H Marketing and Communications function to direct all donor-facing communications including newsletters, annual reports, impact stories, and digital campaigns. Strategic Leadership and Team Management:
Develop and implement comprehensive philanthropic strategies aligned with organizational goals and growth plans. Required Qualifications Minimum 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in philanthropy, public and private fundraising, with at least 5 years in senior executive roles Proven track record of personally raising and generating multi-million dollar major gifts portfolio; significant experience engaging with high net worth individuals Demonstrated success closing six and seven-figure gifts Strong background development event strategy Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage diverse stakeholders Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred CFRE certification or similar professional credentials preferred Strategic thinking with ability to translate vision into actionable plans Exceptional relationship-building skills with individuals at all levels Strong business acumen and financial management capabilities Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when engaging with diverse stakeholders Professional discretion in handling sensitive information, managing confidential donor relationships, and navigating complex organizational dynamics while representing the organization's interests with integrity and tact.
