FourLeaf Federal Credit Union
BSA/AML Alert Specialist
FourLeaf Federal Credit Union, Bethpage, New York, United States, 11714
FourLeaf's ultimate goal is to provide the best-in-class member and employee experience, and it all begins with two things: hiring incredible people and giving them a great place to work.
What You’ll Do
The BSA/AML Alert Specialist is responsible for monitoring, performing initial analysis of, and dispositioning system-generated alerts, determining whether activity can be cleared or requires escalation to a case. This role involves gathering and documenting supporting information, completing Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), and performing real-time sanctions screenings with escalation of true matches to senior compliance staff.
Core Contributions
Utilize Verafin to conduct transaction monitoring of system-generated BSA/AML alerts, performing initial high-level analysis to determine whether activity can be mitigated and cleared or requires further investigation. Escalate alerts needing additional research to BSA/AML Case Analysts, and immediately elevate any high-risk alerts (e.g., terrorism, human trafficking, negative media, employee activity) to the BSA/AML Compliance Officer or Assistant Manager of High-Risk Operations.
Gather and document supporting information using internal systems and open source/internet research to support alert disposition. Attach all relevant documentation - including KYC/CIP records, onboarding materials, and branch correspondence – to the subject profile or case to ensure proper record retention and to support further review as needed.
Review and complete Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) to meet regulatory requirements. Coordinate with Retail Banking to obtain all necessary member information to fulfill CTR requirements.
Perform Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and Electronic Payments Network (EPN) sanction screenings in near-real time and respond with an assessment of whether any identified match is a false positive or true match, and escalate positive matches to the BSA Compliance Officer to determine overall risk.
Coordinate with other business lines such as Retail Banking, Business Banking, Fraud, Legal, Regulatory Compliance, etc. as needed to disposition an alert. Send requests for information (RFIs) to Retail Banking as necessary to help substantiate activity.
Provide expertise and training to more junior BSA/AML Specialists and/or contractors as needed.
Monitor regulatory changes related to the BSA program and participate in ongoing training to stay current in BSA/AML industry trends and legislation. Assist the BSA/AML Compliance Officer in ensuring FourLeaf takes necessary actions to comply with all requirements and to reduce FourLeaf’s exposure to lawsuits, penalties, adverse publicity and other risks.
Perform other duties or projects as assigned by management related to the BSA/AML program and compliance functions.
Assets You Will Bring
Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred or 1-2 years of Financial Services Experience.
1+ year of experience working in a relevant field (i.e. law enforcement, fraud, forensic accounting, financial crime compliance or financial institution experience) required.
Windows, Internet proficient, and MS Excel and Word skills.
