Engineer- Design. Location: Atlanta, GA. Contract- 2 Years. Client: Southern Gas Co. Position Summary
Southern Company Gas is seeking a Design Engineer to support the planning, design, and technical development of natural gas infrastructure projects. This position plays a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective designs for gas distribution, storage, and fueling station systems. This is an exciting opportunity for self-motivated engineers who are passionate about energy infrastructure and looking to grow their skills in a dynamic, collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities
Design components and functionality for pipeline and gas facility projects Support gas storage and fueling station design assignments Assist with mechanical equipment maintenance planning and support Conduct system balance assessments to identify and resolve system performance issues Provide technical oversight and support during construction phases Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project success Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or General Engineering 1–3 years of progressive engineering experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred
Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) certification Required Skills & Competencies
Project Management capabilities Effective communication across all organizational levels Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder coordination abilities Critical thinking and self-guided problem solving Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Basic proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Intermediate proficiency in CAD/GIS software tools
