Assistant Controller

One of Vaco’s PE-backed distribution clients north of $1B in revenue is looking to onboard an Assistant Controller ASAP. The company is in the midst of a ton of changes in terms of building out the accounting team as well as integrating several large acquisitions that closed EOY 2024 – ideal candidates will be process-focused with a “roll-up-your-sleeves” mentality.
Compensation: $150-180K + bonus
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in managing the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements Monitor inventory accounting and cost of goods sold (COGS) to ensure accuracy and proper valuation Support the budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with operations and sales teams Maintain and improve internal controls over financial reporting and accounting procedures Assist with audits and liaise with external auditors to provide requested documentation Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely and accurate processing Provide financial analysis and reports to management for decision-making support Manage fixed assets tracking and depreciation schedules Help implement process improvements to increase efficiency in financial operations Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or progress toward CPA preferred) 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a distribution, logistics, or manufacturing environment Strong understanding of inventory, freight, and cost accounting Proficient in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to details Vaco is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all qualified candidates.
