Role Overview: ITS / Traffic Engineer As an ITS / Traffic Engineer at HDR, you will be responsible for:

Designing and implementing communications, traffic control equipment, and electronic tolling systems.

Assisting with the development of practice areas related to ITS program management, TSM&O, ATMS, TMC, ATIS, Managed Lanes, and emerging technology projects.

Designing and implementing ITS standards, open road tolling, active traffic management, and related systems.

Developing plans, specifications, estimates, and conducting systems engineering analysis.

Leading deliverables for small projects, preparing engineering design concepts, and reports under senior guidance.

Participating in QA/QC processes and developing presentation materials for client presentations.

Performing other duties as needed, subject to a governmental background check.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering.

5+ years of experience with large, complex projects and project management.

Knowledge of industry standards such as IEEE, NTCIP, MUTCD, NEMA, ATC, and NFPA.

Experience working with multiple state DOTs/regions.

Leadership roles in professional organizations preferred.

Preference for local candidates.

Required Qualifications

Experience in traffic analysis and engineering/design.

Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.

Hands-on experience with CAD platforms (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Guide Sign).

Experience with traffic simulation and safety analysis software (HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, Aimsun, Highway Safety Software).

Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
