Overview Computational Mathematics Faculty — The Pennsylvania State University. The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Computational Mathematics. The search covers Numerical Analysis, Foundations of Machine Learning, Data Driven Methods, Quantum Computing, or other areas within Computational Mathematics. The successful candidate will develop an independent research program and contribute to the department's and college's teaching and service mission. Anticipated start Summer or Fall 2026. Duties include research, teaching, supervision of student research at undergraduate and graduate levels, and service. The candidate should demonstrate capacity for a strong independent research program and teaching/mentorship excellence.

Responsibilities

Develop an independent research program in computational mathematics.

Teach at undergraduate and graduate levels; supervise student research.

Provide service to the department, college, and professional community.

Qualifications

Assistant Professor: Ph.D. in Mathematics or closely related field before beginning employment.

Associate Professor: same qualifications plus strong scholarly track record, external funding, and teaching/service success.

Full Professor: same qualifications as Associate plus distinguished record of research, funding, teaching, and service.
