Catering Manager - Johnson C. Smith

Are you an experienced Catering Manager passionate about catering and working with the public? Perkins Management Service Company is seeking a high-energy catering manager to oversee the catering department at Johnson C. Smith. The successful candidate will have a proven background in catering and presentation, with exceptional customer service skills. Responsibilities include supervising and supporting the planning of catering events of various sizes, ensuring all Perkins higher education catering brand standards and initiatives are consistently met. The ideal candidate will be responsible for organizing and executing all catering events, with knowledge of casual and fine dining, banquet management, and culinary skills. Experience in high-volume activity, staff training, labor management, and control systems is a plus. Develop and maintain a safety culture that ensures a safe work environment. Directly supervise catering operations, including staff coordination, equipment setup, event service, and breakdown. Assist with event booking, menu selection, costing, and pricing. Handle hiring, discipline, performance reviews, and pay increases. Coordinate with internal departments, participate in management meetings, and liaise with vendors and clients. Represent Perkins and the client at meetings and events. Ensure sanitation, safety, and organization standards are met through checklists and supervision. Prepare banquet rooms for functions. Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional appearance. Serve meals and beverages according to protocol. Set tables for special functions. Load/unload event equipment safely. Maintain storage areas and supplies orderly. Ensure equipment and supplies are well-maintained. Participate in and help develop catering training programs.
