Overview
The Biology Department at Contra Costa College is hiring part-time instructors to teach Nutrition (BioSc 160, 3 units). This is a lecture-only class. We offer in-person as well as online sections. Duties and Responsibilities
Provide classroom instruction in accordance with approved course outlines. Inform students concerning course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements. Maintain necessary attendance, scholastic, and personnel records, and submit them according to published guidelines. Prepare and grade classroom assignments and examinations, and inform students of their academic progress. Qualifications
Education: Master’s in any biological science OR Bachelor’s in any biological science AND Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science OR a Master’s in Nutrition or Nutritional Science OR the equivalent. If you meet the minimum qualifications via equivalency, complete the Master’s Degree Discipline Equivalency form in the application packet. Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty. Desirable Qualifications: Experience teaching science classes at the community college level; experience with teaching using technology, including remote education platforms. Desirable qualities: extraordinary interpersonal skills, leadership, passion for teaching, and ability to communicate effectively with students to help them achieve educational goals.
