Assistant Professor, Sociology of Gender and Sexuality (Department of Sociology) in Allendale, MI. The position includes teaching and developing courses in the Sociology of Gender and the Sociology of Sexuality, as well as introductory-level courses at the Valley Campus. The successful candidate will engage in ongoing research and service activities, including acting as a liaison between the department and the LGBT Resource Center and the Center for Women and Gender Equity at the university. Tenure-line faculty are typically hired on nine-month contracts with a nine-credit-hour teaching load per semester. The role includes teaching introductory-level courses in the Sociology of Gender and Sociology of Sexuality, maintaining an active/creative presence in the discipline, and serving as the liaison between the department and the LGBT Resource Center and the Center for Women and Gender Equity at Grand Valley State University. Required Qualifications and Education

A Ph.D. in Sociology or a closely related field. Current ABD candidates will be considered for a two-year contract if they complete their Ph.D. by December 2027. Demonstrated ability to teach college-level courses in the Sociology of Gender and Sexuality, as well as introductory-level classes such as Introduction to Sociology and Social Problems. Demonstrated active or ongoing scholarly activity in the discipline. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with others with respect, empathy, and cultural humility. Preferred Qualifications and Education

Demonstrated experience with effective teaching of the Sociology of Gender, the Sociology of Sexuality, and introductory-level sociology classes. Active research agenda in the discipline. Compensation and Benefits

Minimum Starting Salary: $67,592; commensurate with experience.
