The Test Engineer III will be part of the Hardware Engineering Team in our HVAC division, working closely with the Electrical Engineering department and other disciplines within the company. This position involves technical functions supporting product development activities such as design, testing, checkout, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype products. There is potential for long-term growth as the business expands and new team members join.
Responsibilities
Develop new test methodologies for emerging and existing technologies.
Follow test plans to execute design verification tests accurately and efficiently.
Evaluate and analyze hardware circuits.
Evaluate and troubleshoot PCBAs down to the component level.
Learn about smart home products and devices, including smart thermostats, sensors, and other environment control components.
Accurately capture and measure circuit signal integrity parameters, current consumption, and validate system compliance per product specifications.
Follow written and verbal instructions, diagrams, and test plans to conduct PCBA and assembled level measurements on new development projects.
Create professional product design verification and failure analysis reports.
Perform debugging and root cause analysis for failures, and prepare detailed failure reports for customers.
Troubleshoot factory issues, including test station setups, automated test system errors, programming issues, and test methodologies.
Maintain familiarity with IEC standards in general.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of hardware testing experience.
Strong foundation in electronic circuit theory with the ability to understand circuit functions from instructions.
Proficient electronic troubleshooting skills.
Understanding of general test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, and power supplies.
Experience with schematic capture and layout tools like OrCAD, Altium, or PADS.
Basic soldering and rework skills.
Experience with HVAC systems, smart controllers, sensors, and small devices is a plus.
Proficiency with PC applications, including MS Excel and MS Word.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Detail-oriented with good interpersonal skills to collaborate with various engineering departments.
Quick learner and able to follow directions effectively.
Salary range: $100,000 - $120,000 per year.
