Trenchless Geotechnical Team Lead - (187905) At HDR, our employee-owners are fully engaged in creating a welcoming environment where each of us is valued and respected. This role is part of HDR\'s Trenchless Services and focuses on geotechnical leadership for trenchless technologies, engineering, design and construction applications. Primary Responsibilities
The Trenchless Geotechnical Lead reports to the Trenchless Services Engineering Lead and is responsible for planning, managing, and orchestrating geologic and geotechnical initiatives within trenchless technologies. It includes applying geologic information to engineering and design practices, leading geotechnical exploration campaigns, evaluating subsurface conditions for design and construction feasibility, recommending mitigations for problematic geologic conditions, and interfacing with the broader team to integrate geotechnical data into project deliverables. Lead and execute comprehensive geotechnical investigations for trenchless projects, including directing subcontracted drilling crews, field logging and testing, collecting geotechnical data, coordinating laboratory programs, analyzing data, and generating reports. Lead and generate geotechnical data reports and geotechnical engineering reports. Serve as a local HDR resource, representing the Trenchless Services team at site visits and client meetings as required. Support geotechnical data management using OpenGround and/or gINT, and generate deliverables such as boring logs and cross sections for design drawings. Perform data management and quality control of geological data. Aid in geotechnical analyses of subsurface conditions and interpret impacts to trenchless projects, providing mitigation recommendations throughout the project lifecycle. Interpret subsurface conditions and lead integration of geological and geotechnical data into design and construction, including creating geological cross sections for HFIAs. Advance software capabilities for trenchless deliverables (gINT, OpenGround, ArcGIS Pro, AutoCAD Civil 3D). Support other HDR business groups and regions as needed; monitor field activities and communicate with clients and team members off-site. Travel as necessary for field work; perform reconnaissance, logging, sampling, and oversight of investigations; present field data with high quality. Lead and manage workload, delegate responsibilities, and manage a geotechnical team (geologists, specialists, engineers); conduct mentoring and performance reviews and manage planning, resources, cost, scheduling, and risk for geotechnical initiatives. Provide leadership growth opportunities by expanding the team\'s geotechnical services and developing geotechnical databases and deliverables. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with OpenGround software. Ability to work and communicate effectively in remote environments. Experience leading and managing direct reports and subconsultants. Bachelor\'s degree in Geotechnical/Geological Engineering, Geology, or related field. Strong teamwork orientation with leadership drive and reliable contributions to Trenchless Services and multidisciplinary project teams. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Proficient in MS Word and Excel, gINT, ArcGIS, AutoCAD. Travel required. Professional licensure such as PE and/or PG; knowledge of ASTM geotechnical standards. Understanding of subsurface material classification and related geotechnical concepts. Required Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent experience. A minimum of 7 years of experience. Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role.
