Role overview

The Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) is responsible for supporting sales initiatives by identifying new install capacity, providing onsite installation training and reinforcement, and collecting ground level market data for James Hardie Building Products in their defined territory. The incumbent will develop installer and sub-labor partnerships to drive efficiencies through training and tracking compliance results on product installations for key accounts to deliver value to our customers.

As a member of the Sales Team, the TSS reports to the local Area/Regional Sales Leader and receives direction and training from the Technical Segment Leader. The TSS integrates with the sales team through aligned technical sales strategies while providing insights on identifying targeted crews, installation trends, and sharing best practices. Responsibilities include identifying new capacity in each segment, delivering job site installer training, completing installation audits and efficiency assessments, gathering real-time contractor economics information, and reporting progress and gaps to Technical Sales Managers. The role requires bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) to engage deeper with crew level operators in the siding installation space. The TSS will engage building contractor crews on projects in their territory and target them for development into James Hardie enablers in the market.

What You’ll Do: Contractor Partnership

Make appointments to residential building sites, multiple times per day, 3-4 days per week.

Utilize bilingual capabilities to increase outreach and engagement of Hispanic communities in building installer contractor networks.

Develop a solid understanding of JHBP company products, customer programs and benefits, and use market development sales approaches.

Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with install partners and subcontractors ensuring retention and loyalty to James Hardie.

Support customer (Dealer) by increasing JH capacity in the market to enable sales growth through affordability and quality.

Partner with siding crews to improve installation quality by identifying gaps in their capabilities.

Facilitate jobsite trainings, follow-ups, and install audits.

Target select installers and crews to build capacity and drive affordability; support on-site install/technical support when new builders convert to James Hardie products.

Market Data Gathering

Gather contractor economics data by speaking with contracting crews about James Hardie product costs.

Complete installation assessments on new crews, before and after training, to track compliance progression of installation best practices.

Partner with Technical Sales Managers to enable increased execution capability of the district team for market development and account management priorities.

Provide competitive market advantage opportunities to identified installation companies to ensure sustainable growth.

Create a database of installers and sub-contractors in the local marketplace to deliver value to partners and end users.

Deliver on-site training, hands-on support, and quality audits to help convert new business in the market.

Provide continuous education and training for trade partners on James Hardie “Best Practices” to support brand growth.

Participate in pre-construction meetings between builders and install companies.

Develop and maintain relationships with the construction department of builder end users to ensure retention and loyalty to James Hardie.

Manage and adhere to a priority-based schedule with existing and prospective customers.

What You’ll Bring:

Bilingual - Spanish/English (required). Portuguese is a plus.

Some construction knowledge or experience.

Demonstrated knowledge of tools and practices of siding installation or general construction applications.

Prior track record of success in a technical construction role.

Passion for the company and personal success to meet or exceed goals.

Knowledge of construction operations and building codes.

Experience using CRMs, specifically Salesforce.com (preferred).

Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).

A valid driver’s license is required.
