We are seeking a Benefits Administrator to join our Human Resources team. This role manages all aspects of benefits, leaves, and accommodations, while also supporting the HR team’s mission to build a welcoming, collaborative, and knowledgeable environment across the university. Direct and plan the day-to-day operations of all benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, FMLA/OFLA/ADA, life insurance, flexible spending plans, health spending accounts, and 403(b)). Manage the open enrollment process. Assist in the day-to-day processes of benefits, policies and procedures, training and orientation, compliance, and employee recognition. Work with the Payroll Manager to ensure benefits accuracy in Paycom and benefit invoicing. Oversee processes necessary for implementing benefits programs and maintaining records required for compliance with HIPAA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, OFLA, ADA, and other applicable regulations. Ensure accurate tracking of benefits-related costs and collaborate with Accounting and Payroll teams for reconciliations. Partner with insurance brokers to negotiate competitive pricing and favorable contract terms. Participate in RPC and RPAC committee meetings for retirement plan compliance. Communicate benefit options and changes to employees through various channels. Analyze benefits data to make informed decisions about plan design and adjustments. Coordinate enrollment and eligibility processes for new hires and qualifying life events. Administer benefits claims and resolve any issues or disputes that may arise. Collaborate with the HR team to develop and implement a benefits strategy aligned with university goals and values. Manage the accommodation process for all ADA requests; collaborate and mentor HR staff on talent acquisition, innovation, and problem-solving. Plan and execute benefits fairs, vaccine clinics, and similar initiatives. Share knowledge and insights with HR colleagues in a professional, collaborative way. Assist in recommending and implementing best practice policies and procedures. Provide excellent customer service to staff, faculty, student employees, managers, supervisors, and executives. Actively seek out knowledge to broaden HR skills and work with the HR Director on new initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Minimum 3–5 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough understanding of Human Resources best practices and federal/state employment laws and regulations governing benefits (e.g., ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, OFLA, ADA). Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues. Excellent organizational, research, and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals and circumstances, including escalated issues. Physical Requirements
Work is primarily performed in an office environment and is sedentary in nature. Constant sitting, hearing, seeing, talking, and repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement. Frequent standing, walking, and climbing stairs. Occasional travel to meetings or conferences off-site, which may involve driving and exposure to weather elements.
