The Grants Specialist will work with increasing independence as responsibilities are learned, primarily in Grants and Contracts with Pre-Award, Post-Award, and Other Duties responsibilities. Responsibilities
Pre-Award (50%): Prepare budgets and budget justifications for grants (federal, state, and private foundation) submissions; require good math and editing skills. Manage receipt of all grant application components (e.g., biosketches, letters of support, subcontracts, science documents). Compile and format applications to meet sponsor specifications. Maintain organized electronic files of grant application components. Communicate with PIs, co-investigators, consultants, grants offices, etc., to ensure review of all components in a timely manner for meeting submission deadlines. Keep PIs and divisional staff apprised of updated institutional, PHS, or foundation regulations. Work in a team environment for efficient processing of grant applications. Post-Award (20%): Assist PIs in preparation and submission of annual RPPRs (Research Performance Progress Reports) and semiannual progress reports (e.g., NARSAD), "just-in-time" requests, and no-cost extensions including budget preparation, collection of "other support" documents, biosketches, etc. Assist with prime budget setup and processing of subcontracts. Keep organized electronic files of post-award documents. Other Duties (30%): Assist with monthly review of grant accounts. Qualifications
Minimum: Extensive experience with Federal grants (NIH, NSF, etc.) and associated systems (ERA Commons, Proposal Central, etc.). Extensive knowledge of the sponsored projects cycle: proposal development, grants management, etc. Minimum 5 years of related experience in an administrative role within a research environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel. Detail-oriented with strong interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills. Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to anticipate, solve problems and implement systems contributing to an efficient working environment. High level of computer literacy, especially with spreadsheets and accounting. Self-directed and self-reliant; well-organized with excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with a wide variety of personalities. Preferred: Previous work experience in grants management; prior experience with software such as F-TASK. Background Investigation/Justice Center Review
