PATIENT PLACEMENT COORDINATOR

Managing bed capacity is essential to the smooth running of a hospital, as all departments depend on bed availability. Determining the optimal number of hospital beds involves models and techniques sensitive to multi-level, uncertain, and dynamic variables. Every decision impacts bed availability and patient flow. Planning involves forecasting and organizing activities to achieve goals. Bed management includes monitoring hospital admissions, discharges, and patient movements to gather accurate information and identify bed availability across all units.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Five years of experience in an acute care facility, with knowledge and expertise in patient placement and bed management, demonstrating critical thinking and prioritization skills.

Experience in patient placement is beneficial.

Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare-related field.

Effective delegation, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.

Good coaching and communication skills.

Problem-solving abilities.

Understanding of patient placement and bed utilization optimization.

Strong communication and listening skills.

Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

High level of accuracy, even under pressure.

Excellent organizational skills.

Proficiency with PC-based applications such as spreadsheets, email, and Outlook.

Strong leadership, initiative, and judgment.

Participative problem-solving skills.

Strong analytical skills.

Commitment to protecting confidential data.

Negotiation skills.

Ability to collaborate with physicians and nurses.

Hours: This position is Part Time, 0.6 FTE or 48 hours per pay period.
