Regional Sales/Service Manager – Northeast
Salary Range: $90,000 plus commission
Commission Plan:
Position comes with a quarterly commission plan based on maintaining existing business and business growth. Functional Role : The Regional Sales/Service Manager, RSSM–Northeast conducts him or herself as the “owner” of the region; provides direct sales leadership to a region. The customer focus will be on all PAPER MILLS in the region with a strategic focus on Winders and Rewinders that fit our current product strategy. The RSSM will have close customer relationships that will range from maintenance, personnel, shift supervisors, engineers, machine personnel, and top operations leadership. The Account Manager will be a key member of the North American Leadership Team. This position is a critical interface to the JSI customers. Working hand in hand with the account managers, he or she will support existing customers in their usage of JSI products and services. The paper mills supported will predominantly be in the USA but with a possibility of very occasional needs arising in other papermaking parts of the world. JSI is looking for a strong individual; however, there is the need to balance confidence with effective collaboration to maintain the JSI culture and effectiveness. Reports to:

Communication internally Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Director of Sales to develop and implement sales plan for the region that dovetails into long range sales and marketing strategies for the business. This work will include establishing appropriate expectations and performance metrics for the region. Thoroughly understand all equipment we sell especially around slitter sections. Be able to install and adjust holders, carriages, blades along with setting cant angles and blade depth to complete the entire selling cycle. Also – work towards to be able to fill in, if necessary, on routine slitter section maintenance, training, where we have contracts and where we sell our services. Participate in company meetings to discuss, fine-tune, and help create strategic plans. Effectively manage accounts and customer relationships, leveraging company resources to accomplish stated goals. Develop and enhance relationships with key customer personnel. Monitor competitors’ products, practices, and pricing. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current and future industry trends. Participate in industry trade association activities. Effectively communicate and report internally to ensure proper customer service and efforts are in sync with sales leadership Write weekly call reports communicating the health of our customers and your territory Write and present Service Reports Generate and qualify lead Presentation of company products and services Present proposals and quotations Negotiate with customer Respond to sales inquiries, concerns, via phone, electronically or in person Maintain a safe work record both while at the customer and during your travels This position is strategically central to a step process meant to enhance and expand JSI’s business. This represents change for the company. This Account Manager must be able to display competence and establish confidence, and trust in a manner that fits the company’s culture, respects legacy considerations but in a collaborative way, help to stretch and push the business. Education & Experience.
Bachelor’s degree, ideally a technical degree. Successful sales experience is required; one must be able to offer a successful track record in sales/business development within the pulp and paper industry. Technically savvy.
One must be comfortable within a paper mill setting and be familiar with the papermaking process; tissue paper making is a focus in the region. The ability to demonstrate knowledge and credibility at the customer level is essential. Sales Pro.
This must be a “Sales Pro” – one who enjoys engaging the customer, who enjoys traveling and is excellent in communication and follow-up. This person, in effect, will be running their own business. This is an individual contributing role within a team context. It is essential that one have well developed self and leadership skills/habits and be well disciplined. Driven and” work smart”.
The qualified individual will understand the importance of prioritization, be a self-starter and operate with an appropriate sense of urgency. One must enjoy being close to the business and willing to “roll up their sleeves” to engage at the customer site. Communication Skills.
Solid communication and listening skills to connect at all levels, as well has having the discipline to report on a timely basis. Interpersonal skills . To be successful this individual must be driven and self-motivated. The ability to establish and build effective relationships with those above, below, and with peers is essential.
