Appalachia Cares
Job Description
To provide humane care and treatment to all animals brought into the shelter and offer educational and volunteer programs to citizens of Adams County, Ohio, concerning humane treatment of animals, prevention of cruelty, abuse, neglect, and exploitation of animals. The goal is further to reduce pet overpopulation in the county by offering low-cost spay/neuter clinics. About Us
The Humane Society of Adams County, Inc. (HSAC) is a non-profit 501c 3 organization (EIN 86-1175774), established in 2005 and based in West Union, Ohio. HSAC currently serves Adams County, Ohio, through the coordination of low-cost pet sterilization clinics, pet rescue and re-homing, humane education, and public outreach programs. HSAC is not associated with the Humane Society of the United States, or any other animal welfare organization. The HSAC Animal Shelter operates as a private, non-profit animal shelter, serving the residents of Adams County. The shelter can house 46 animals at one time, yet the average monthly requests for intake are much higher. HSAC uses many resources to try and find homes for every adoptable animal either by adoption, foster home, or rescue group. The Humane Society of Adams County is an Adoption Guarantee organization, meaning HSAC will not euthanize an animal to make space in the shelter for new animals.
