Overview
Strategic Weapons Systems (SWS) Integration, Department 445, is seeking highly motivated test engineers to provide comprehensive technical oversight of integration activities. This position is located in New London, CT, with the primary responsibility of pro-actively supporting the SWS Systems in Coordination and the associated Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) / Government Furnished Information (GFI) in both the Groton and Quonset Point shipyards. The Integration team provides support to the waterfront to ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous completion of construction activities in a manner that results in delivery of ships consistent with the design intent. Test Engineers will interface with multiple Strategic Programs (SP) branches and their contractors, Electric Boat Design and Engineering, Ship's Management, Planning, Operations, Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP), and Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) PMS397 to act as the primary engineering interface for the Groton shipyard as the SWS Integration team grows.
Responsibilities
Provide engineering oversight and assistance to trade personnel, specifically with regard to SWS GFE related construction, GFI, and test activities
Evaluate emergent shipyard issues that arise during construction or test and rapidly develop technically acceptable resolutions
Interpret SWS GFE design, drawing, installation and specification requirements, and integrate them into the Electric Boat business system
Provide direction regarding the application of Coordination Drawings to resolve COLUMBIA Class construction issues
Lead multidisciplinary engineering evaluations, including the resolution of complicated engineering integration issues
Facilitate the use of Ordnance Documents (ODs) and Ordnance Procedures (OPs) to support SWS COLUMBIA construction
Facilitate discipline-specific SWS knowledge transfer to the construction support engineering team
Coordinate engagement of design and engineering SMEs in the SWS GFE construction sequence
Review, interpret, disseminate, track, and respond to government correspondence
Qualifications Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
2-9 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Payload Integration, Engineering Documentation Management or SWS Coordination
Preferred:
Prior US NAVY experience
