may be located within the PPSAT service area of NC, SC, or VA. Schedule : Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (40 hours/week) Travel : Up to 10% within PPSAT\'s service area based on operational needs What You’ll Do
The Controller performs a wide range of duties including, but not limited to the following: Responsibilities Financial Management and Reporting: Oversee all general ledger, month-end, and year-end close processes; ensure timely preparation and distribution of accurate financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annual); manage the preparation of financial reports for the Board, Leadership Team, and funders; oversee grant reporting, restricted funds tracking, and compliance with funder requirements. Accounting Operations: Supervise the Accounting team, monitor day-to-day accounting functions (cash management, reconciliations, journal entries); lead annual audit preparation and corrective actions; ensure GAAP and nonprofit regulatory compliance; oversee fixed assets management, accruals, and reconciliations for balance sheet accounts. Internal Controls and Compliance: Maintain strong internal control systems; collaborate with auditors; partner with department heads to improve financial understanding and strengthen cost-control practices; ensure compliance with state, federal, and grant regulations. Team Leadership & Collaboration: Lead, coach, and mentor the accounting team; foster collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate reporting of expenses and grant usage; act as a resource for department managers on financial policies and reporting processes. Process Improvement & Systems: Drive efficiency by enhancing accounting workflows; leverage technology for automation and reporting; support the CFO in evaluating and implementing new systems; develop and maintain SOPs for all accounting functions. General: Contribute to a positive work environment, follow through on tasks, take initiative, work with the team, and identify solutions; adhere to affiliate policies and procedures including meetings and training requirements, ensuring punctuality and attendance. What You\'ll Bring to the Role
Bachelor\'s degree in accounting, finance or related field with 4-6 years in a financial management position or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree. CPA or advanced degree preferred. 1 year of prior leadership/supervisory experience. Experience managing or working within a healthcare environment, especially nonprofit experience. Extensive experience with accounting software programs and Excel; MIP Fund Accounting Software preferred. What We Offer

PPSAT is committed to equitable and transparent pay practices. This position is aligned within our established pay structure, with an annual salary range of $104,200.00 to $128,000.00. Starting salary will be determined based on experience and internal equity. A complete application includes a cover letter and resume.
