SUNY Polytechnic Institute's College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Mathematics and Physics, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Mathematics. The successful applicant will engage in research and scholarship involving undergraduate students, teach courses in existing mathematics programs and service courses, contribute to the development of an MS in Applied Mathematics with tracks in Mathematical Physics and Computational Mathematics, and collaborate with faculty at SUNY Poly in disciplines such as physics, computer science, data science, and engineering. The area of research specialization is open, but we are especially interested in applicants with an active research program from any area of Mathematics and Computational Mathematics, and who want to join an environment where they can collaborate in multidisciplinary teams advancing the four thematic areas described in SUNY Poly's 2024 Strategic Plan: Materials, Robotics & Advanced Manufacturing; AI and Information Technology; Smart Infrastructure and Sustainability; and Healthcare & Wellbeing. We are eager to hear from candidates with a commitment to advancing SUNY Poly's strategic plan and our mission, vision, and values. The expected start date is August 2026. Description of Duties: The successful candidate will: Teach undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses, including courses offered to students in Science, Engineering and Technology disciplines. A typical teaching load is three courses per semester, but during the first two years of the appointment a reduced teaching load of two classes per semester can be anticipated, to provide time to establish a research program and develop courses. Faculty also may use funds from externally sponsored research programs to reduce their teaching loads. Subsequent course reductions may be available for faculty who are especially active in research and scholarship. Maintain an active research program that involves undergraduate students. Engage in professional or academic activities in campus-based, local, regional or broader communities in an effort to make a positive impact and advance the recognition and reputation of the College of Arts & Sciences and SUNY Poly. Other reasonable duties as assigned. Salary Range: Assistant Professor $75,000-$82,000 / Associate Professor $83,000-$90,000 / Full Professor $90,000+ Ph.D. (ABD Considered) in Mathematics or related field from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
