Responsibilities
Conduct analysis, modeling, and data processing in underwater acoustics, sonar performance modeling, signal and information processing, and spectral analysis.
Contribute to algorithm development and software improvements through theoretical and applied research, prototyping, validation, and integration; support performance evaluations and the transition of algorithms into production systems.
Convey results of scientific research to sponsors and the scientific community through briefings, technical reports, discussions, and scholarly works. Engage with collaborators and sponsors to develop and maintain productive relationships and support development efforts.
Support team research efforts through collaboration on technical work, group discussions & planning, and sharing of expertise and feedback on ongoing efforts.
Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, math, or related technical area.
Experience with MATLAB, Python, or similar abstract language.
Demonstrated proficiency in signal processing and time series data manipulation.
Demonstrated experience in scientific algorithm development, scientific modeling/simulations and/or data analysis.
Dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies and continue learning & developing skills outside of core expertise area, including staying abreast of cutting-edge research and technology in relevant fields.
Effective problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and sound scientific judgment, able to propose research questions and design experiments as needed.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member with and without daily supervision, work several overlapping projects over a short period of time, ability to work within an environment with rapidly changing priorities, and effectively communicate with all groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance.

Subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years of prior research work experience, especially in DoD-related applications.
Two or more years of applied programming with MATLAB or Python, additional preference if in the areas of scientific algorithm development, modeling and simulation, and/or scientific data analysis.
Demonstrated experience working with acoustic simulations and/or propagation modeling.
Demonstrated experience working with large amounts of time series data, additional preference for experience with acoustic data.
Additional experience in the areas mentioned in the required qualifications.
Experience in sonar or radar processing and analysis; signal processing, time-frequency analysis; underwater acoustics, physical modeling, and/or wave propagation.
Experience developing in a Linux environment.
Eligibility for immediate access to classified information.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 with a 3.5 in major coursework.
