Job Description - Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician -Histology Full Time Day (2503229) Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician -Histology Full Time Day Responsibilities
Paraffin and embed biopsy, routine surgical specimens, placenta, autopsy and research tissue. Perform paraffin microtomy techniques to produce 2-5 micron sections. Stain, coverslip and assemble cases; label and distribute all prepared histology sections. Follow all appropriate protocols for LIS systems: Copath, Ventana Benchmark, Ultra, Symphony, Vantage and Copath. Complete routine and special requests for additional levels, recuts, special stains and immunohistochemistry; verify upon completion in Copath and document for QA purposes. Perform the battery of special stains and immunohistochemistry used in diagnostic histopathology. Rotate responsibilities and perform maintenance of laboratory instrumentation, including changing reagents; maintain QA documentation and temperature logs daily. As assigned, assist Pathologists by grossing biopsy specimens. Qualifications
Required:
NYS License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or NYS License as a Histology Technician. BS degree in biology, medical technology, or other life sciences, or an AAS degree from an accredited program in Histotechnology. Good interpersonal and communication skills. HT (ASCP) or eligible. SL-1: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician or eligible including provisional/limited permit with 0-2 years of relevant experience. SL-2: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician or eligible including provisional/limited permit with 3-5 years of relevant experience. SL-3: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician or eligible including provisional/limited permit with a minimum 6 years of relevant experience. Preferred:
NYS License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. Minimum one year Histology clinical laboratory experience (including special stains, immunohistochemistry, and microtomy). Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, biology, or life sciences. Experience with renal, nerve, muscle specimens and biopsy grossing. Please Note:
