Responsibilities

The successful applicant will ordinarily teach courses related to the new undergraduate psychology major concentration in diversity and social justice. Courses may include Psychology of Gender, Multicultural Psychology, Human Sexual Behavior, Psychology of Prejudice, Introduction to Psychology, and others in the candidate’s area of expertise.

Expand the course offerings in this concentration.

Teach a 3-3 course load and oversee the concentration in diversity and social justice.

Mentor students in honors theses and promote student research opportunities; apply psychology in fields such as advocacy, social services, and public policy.

Engage in scholarship of teaching and learning and involve students in research; opportunities may exist to teach innovative general education and interdisciplinary courses.

Demonstrate professional productivity through clinical/applied practice, publications, presentations, or other publicly disseminated work; provide service to the department, college, university, and Hartford area communities.

Contribute to advising, student recruitment and retention, and coordination with internships to facilitate internships and applied experiences in psychology, diversity, and social justice.

Demonstrate a commitment to inclusive excellence and belonging, fostering a vibrant campus community where all students, staff, and faculty can flourish.

Contractual details: initial Clinical/Applied contract is 1-2 years with possible longer-term contracts based on performance and continuing need.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have completed a doctorate in psychology or a related discipline by the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong experience teaching undergraduates and supporting student learning.

Research or applied experience and commitment to diversity and social justice.

Commitment and ability to mentor and actively engage undergraduate students and to build the concentration in diversity and social justice.

Interpersonal, organizational and communication skills and the ability to work with students, staff, and faculty.

Commitment to inclusive excellence and belonging.
