is seeking a Laboratory/Research Technician specializing in cell culture research with human stem cells and/or organoids to support the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD). What You’ll Do: Workday monitoring of cell cultures in support of USAMRICD for experimental studies. Culture, passage, and maintain stocks of stem cells, microglia, and organoids as needed using proper cell culture techniques and molecular biology methods. Monitor cell cultures for signs of contamination or other changes that may affect results. Perform daily maintenance including dilutions, solution and reagent preparation, and media replenishment for multiple stem cell lines, microglia, and organoid culture lines concurrently. Cultivate cells in culture by adding nutrients, removing waste products, and sterilizing equipment. Formulate cell culture medias and supplement formulations as well as dilution factors. Maintain critical lab functions including cell line banks, stock solutions, media preparation, and chemical inventories as well as perform routine assays. Perform data analysis and contribute to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Perform immunohistochemical staining on samples and microscopic analysis using various software. Develops and modifies test methods for analysis utilizing computer-assisted microscopy and histological procedures such as cryostat sectioning and immunohistochemistry. Draft reports, figures, and slide summaries of experimental methods and results, as needed. Draft technical reports, manuscripts, proposals, and other written work, as needed. Prepare and present presentations and written documentation summarizing efforts in Government Format, per PI/COR request. Conduct biochemical, pharmacological, physiological, and behavioral components of experimental investigations in collaboration with the PI. The experiments will determine the effects of threats/hazards and be capable of testing medical interventions in several species. What You Bring: Must be a U.S. Citizen Biological sciences degree (e.g., biology, neuroscience, cell and molecular biology) or Psychology degree An active DoD Interim SECRET Security Clearance is required Knowledge of pharmacology and neuroscience and applied medical defense research Experience scheduling and executing cell culture protocols Experience in maintaining microglia, stem cells, or organoid cultures Experience with fluorescence or two-photon microscope hardware and software Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word Experience with GraphPad Prism or similar statistical software.
