Position Summary This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.
The Pharmacist is responsible for improving therapeutic outcomes for the patients through safe, rational and cost-effective pharmaceutical care, education, and research. The Pharmacist collaborates with members of the health care team to provide accurate and timely pharmacy services. The Pharmacist maintains competency in drug therapy and disease-state management. The Pharmacist independently manages Medical Center approved Pharmacy regulated therapies and participates in Pharmacy clinical intervention program. The Pharmacist provides drug information to Physicians, Nurses, and other health care workers to improve the quality of medication prescribing and administration. The Pharmacists directs the work of ancillary pharmacy personnel. The Pharmacist educates patients and families to improve compliance with drug therapy.

Responsible for Pharmacy operations in the medication use process.
Provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care.
Acts as a resource for drug information and therapeutic recommendations for all providers and patients.
Manages Pharmacy regulated therapies based on established departmental guidelines.
Supervises and directs the activities of Pharmacy Technicians and other ancillary personnel.
Documents all medication errors, adverse drug events, and clinical interventions.
Ability to be at work and be on time.
Ability to follow company policies, procedures, and directives.
Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
Ability to prioritize and multitask.
Specific job-related responsibilities and duties
Responsible for Pharmacy operations in the medication use process.
Provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care.
Demonstrates leadership skills that positively contribute to the Medical Center.
Understands and applies all applicable laws and regulations.
Educates oneself and trains/ educates students and new staff.
Supports the direction and initiatives of the Department of Pharmacy.
Other duties as assigned.
Maintains effective communication which supports optimal working relationships to promote teamwork internally and externally with other departments and disciplines to address customer satisfaction and promote high quality of care.
Note: Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.

Minimum Requirements Qualifications/Work Experience:
Minimum three (3) years of experience in an inpatient hospital pharmacy setting with clinical exposure preferred
Working knowledge of pharmacokinetic principles preferred
History of managing various Pharmacy regulated therapies (e.g., Pharmacokinetics, TPN, anticoagulation) preferred
Education/Licensure/Certification
Graduated from an accredited School of Pharmacy required
Current California Registered Pharmacist license required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 pharmacy residency preferred
Current Certification from Board of Pharmacy Specialties (e.g., BCPS, BCOP, etc) preferred
