Collector, MSO CBO - USC Care MSO CBO - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union) . The Collector Appeal Specialist is responsible for accurately processing inpatient and outpatient claims to third-party payers and private payers, following all billing guidelines. Responsibilities include timely filing, quality control checks on claims, processing tracers, denials, appeals, and composing appeal letters for challenging denials in accordance with the latest AMA CPT guidelines. The role requires professionalism, good verbal and written communication skills, and maintaining a productivity standard with an average of 90% on Quality Reviews. The Professional Billing Refund Collector reviews credit balances, processes adjustments, transfers, and refunds, and supports billing operations to ensure smooth workflows and high customer satisfaction. The position involves direct supervision, regular team meetings, and review of daily production reports. Essential Duties

Technical Duties:

Analyzing billing procedures based on financial class, billing documentation, and vendor systems; ensuring accurate claim submission; maintaining patient confidentiality; and resolving billing issues using various coding systems and billing platforms. Follow-Up and Collections:

Facilitating payment collection, managing accounts, documenting activities, applying contractual knowledge, and communicating with payors and patients to resolve delinquencies. Adjustments and Reconciliation:

Submitting adjustments, updating accounts, and ensuring accurate reflection of balances in the billing system. Credit Balances:

Reviewing and resolving credit balances, prioritizing based on age, and documenting activities thoroughly. Additional duties include attending seminars, participating in professional development, supporting special projects, and assisting in training staff. Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in medical collections across various payors. Excellent communication skills and knowledge of collection laws, insurance, and medical terminology. Proficiency in computing environments and support systems. Preferred qualifications include two years of experience with medical billing systems like IDX. Certification in Fire Life Safety Training is required within LA City within 30 days of hire. The hourly rate range is $25.00 - $39.69.
