$29,041.00/yr - $38,405.00/yr Starting Salary Bachelor's Degree: $59,826 - $71,791 Master's Degree: $65,929 - $79,114 What you’ll do

Under the direction of the designated Supervising Social Worker, this position uses Person Centered practices to assess the needs of developmentally disabled individuals and their families, develops and implements the Individual Program Plan, and coordinates associated services. It requires managing a wide range of active cases, including creative planning to seek and acquire services for individuals supported. This role meets with individuals at their residence or in the community to design and develop the Individual Program Plan, then implements, monitors, and revises the plan, assesses needs and barriers, and initiates and terminates regional center funding while ensuring that purchased services are provided. It prepares required reports and documentation in a timely, accurate manner and maintains records in compliance with federal and state requirements. Acting as an advocate for individuals supported and their families, the role ensures receipt of entitled services and client rights, encourages full participation in coordinating resources, and reviews to ensure effective services from existing community resources. It initiates referrals and monitors progress of vendored services, evaluates service availability and effectiveness, and helps identify community needs or gaps with the development of new or improved services. May provide intake or outreach services as assigned and participate in internal and community committees and task forces as assigned. Requirements

Knowledge of principles, objectives and techniques of counseling individuals Knowledge of normal and abnormal individual and group behavior, human growth and development of family relationships Knowledge of community structures and how to intervene on behalf of individuals supported Knowledge in identifying and navigating generic services, counseling techniques, and typical and atypical child development behavior Ability to interview skillfully Ability to develop skills for independent work, exercise judgment in decision-making, and cooperate as part of an interdisciplinary team Ability to stimulate cooperation of individuals supported, their families, and community agencies Ability to speak and write effectively Ability to maintain case records clearly and concisely Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school (social welfare or related field preferred but not required) Demonstrated interest in working with persons with developmental special needs Access to reliable transportation Fluent in Cantonese Benefits
