Adjunct Purpose of Position:

Christopher Newport Universitys College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences is accepting applications from prospective adjunct faculty members to teach individual courses, as needed, in the following areas in Spring 2026 and beyond:

Biology Principles of Biology I Lab Human Anatomy/Physiology I Lab Topics in Medicine and Health

Chemistry Introductory Chemistry I and II Lecture and Lab General Chemistry I and II Lecture and Lab Organic Chemistry I and II Lab

Christopher Newport University is committed to excellence in teaching in a student centered, liberal arts and sciences environment. Along with demonstrated ability for excellent teaching, candidates must hold an earned graduate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited university in a relevant discipline, with 18 completed semester hours of graduate course work in Biology to teach Biology courses or in Chemistry to teach Chemistry courses. Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.

The Department of Molecular Biology and Chemistry is composed of 22 faculty members and oversees the major in Cellular, Molecular and Physiological Biology under the B.S. degree program in Biology and the B.S. degree in Chemistry with majors in both Chemistry and Biochemistry. The Department is located in the $80 Million integrated science building, which includes dedicated research space for faculty and houses a vivarium, confocal microscope, real-time thermocycler, and other standard molecular biology equipment as well as over $1M of chemical instrumentation.
