Overview
Receptionist, Gastroenterology (Falmouth) at Cape Cod Healthcare. Provide administrative support in a front-office role for the MACC practice, ensuring efficient patient flow and high-quality service.
Responsibilities
- Greet and promptly acknowledge patients in the waiting room.
- Answer the phone in a timely, polite and professional manner, direct calls to appropriate persons, and take accurate messages within the electronic medical record.
- Check-in/check-out of patients in the EMR, verify demographics and insurance authorization, collect co-pays, and prepare deposits for courier pickup.
- Provide and collect necessary paperwork, photocopy insurance cards and photo IDs.
- Schedule and reschedule patient appointments and consult requests in the EMR according to scheduling protocols; maintain physician daily schedules and prepare charts for the next day.
- Adjust clinicians’ schedules as needed to accommodate time off, sick time, vacation, in-service and meetings; process cancellations and no-show notifications.
- Open and distribute mail to staff and physicians; coordinate lab, radiology, and referral orders; prepare related forms as required.
- Maintain patient records, scan documents, and file correspondence and test results within the EMR.
- Handle billing inquiries by referring patients to the billing office; provide medical records information to outside agencies and physicians under guidelines.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations; communicate effectively with co-workers, patients, visitors and other personnel.
- Foster harmonious relations with staff, patients and guests; adapt to unexpected changes to ensure duties are completed during absences or high volumes.
- Possess the ability to float to other MACC practices when required; perform other duties as assigned.
- English literacy required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; experience with office technology and electronic medical records; familiarity with MS Office preferred; 1 year office experience preferred; medical terminology knowledge and insurance/authorization knowledge preferred; typing skills at 30 WPM preferred.
Schedule & Location
40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. No weekends or holidays. Primary location: Massachusetts - Falmouth. Department: MAC-General. Employment type: Part-time. Seniority level: Entry level. Industry: Hospitals and Health Care.
