Job Profile Summary
This position reports to the Chief Technology Officer and is responsible for all cybersecurity strategies and operations for the college. The individual will lead the cybersecurity department, manage the institution's cybersecurity risk posture, and strengthen its defense against internal and external threats. Responsibilities include developing and implementing comprehensive information security policies and procedures, leading incident response and investigations, conducting cybersecurity awareness sessions, managing internal and external audits, and ensuring third-party information security compliance is met to protect the college's information systems and data.

Responsibilities include developing and implementing comprehensive information security policies and procedures, leading incident response and investigations, conducting cybersecurity awareness sessions, managing internal and external audits, and ensuring third-party information security compliance is met to protect the college's information systems and data.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology or a related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
- An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
- 8 years of progressive experience working in cybersecurity or information technology.
- 3 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Industry certifications preferred (CISSP, CISM, CompTIA)
- Daily - 20% Strategic Leadership: Serve as the intuition's lead cybersecurity expert, developing strategic vision and roadmap to mature the college's cybersecurity posture. Driving initiatives and the implementation of new processes and procedures.
- Daily - 15% Compliance & Auditing: Lead the college's cybersecurity compliance programs, overseeing all testing and ensuring readiness for internal and external audits.
- Daily - 10% Security Awareness: Create a culture of cybersecurity awareness across the institution. Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive cybersecurity training and awareness program for students, faculty and staff.
- Daily - 10% Risk & Deficiency Management: Identify cybersecurity control deficiencies, evaluate risks, develop and execute mitigation plans.
- Daily - 10% Third-Party Risk Management: Review vendor, software and cloud agreements ensuring they meet the institution's cybersecurity standards.
- Weekly - 10% Project & Operations Management: Oversee the development, implementation, and management of all cybersecurity projects
- and initiatives.
- Other - 5% Technology & Budget: Research, assessment, and recommendation of cybersecurity technologies, manage allotted budget and associated procurement needs.
- Other - 5% Professional Development: Maintain expert knowledge of the threat landscape and future trends by attending consortium meetings, training, workshops, conferences and conducting independent research.
- Other - 5% Business Continuity: Own and maintain the cybersecurity incident response and IT business continuity plans, ensuring institutional readiness through tabletop exercises and drills.
- Other - 5% Incident Escalation: Serve as the escalation point for all major cybersecurity incidents, providing leadership and coordination during emergencies, with 24/7 on-call availability as required.
- Other - 5% Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of cybersecurity professionals, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Deep understanding of cybersecurity threats, techniques and implications across platforms, including on-premise networks, cloud environments and applications.
- Proven experience in core cybersecurity operations, including incident response, threat analysis, digital forensics, and troubleshooting complex security issues.
- Expertise in vulnerability management, network security, application security, and cloud security architecture and best practices.
- In depth knowledge of cybersecurity governance frameworks, risk management technologies, and vendor risk assessment.
- Strong command of regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to higher education, such as FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, GDPR and other data privacy laws.
- Experience with preparing for and managing internal and external cybersecurity audits.
- Expertise in developing and executing project plans, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time, within budget and produce desired results.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information and strategic recommendations to audiences, from technical staff to executive leadership and external vendors.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to apply theories and functional expertise to solve complex situations.
- Must be available 24/7 to lead the response to critical emergency situations as needed.
