STARTING SALARY RANGE: $21.87 - $24.06 per hour
POSITION: Sanitation Driver/Collector I
POSITION NO: 7.230
DEPT: Public Works
This is routine, heavy manual work in Public Works' Sanitation Division collecting, loading, and disposing of residential and commercial solid waste and recycling materials. Responsibilities include operating solid waste collection vehicles and equipment; maintaining dumpsters and roll-off containers and division's facilities and equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of residential and commercial solid waste collection recycling, and disposal practices and methods. Knowledge of operating and maintaining solid waste and recycling equipment and facilities. Knowledge of the division's occupational hazards and safety practices. Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver bulky and heavy materials; lift objects up to 75 pounds routinely and rapidly perform heavy manual work in all weather conditions. Knowledge of the City's geographical area or ability to learn within six months of employment. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public and exercise good judgment and tact. Training, Certification, and Experience
High School Diploma or GED. Minimum six months route collection experience, including experience operating solid waste collection and packer equipment. Or, an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Special Requirements
Valid Florida Commercial "B" driver's license.
